The Dwell Pad Revolution: A New Era of Control and Feel in Pickleball

Introducing Dwell Pad Technology

In pickleball, dwell time refers to how long the ball stays on the paddle face during impact. More dwell = more control, spin, and touch.

The Falcon’s internal cork dwell pads are circular inserts placed strategically within the TerraCore. Rather than creating isolated soft spots, the cork works with the Toray carbon surface to spread ball impact evenly across the entire face.

This turns the entire paddle into a forgiving, consistent hitting area. Whether you connect dead center or slightly off, the Falcon absorbs impact and responds with precision, touch, and confidence.

What Exactly is Dwell Pad Technology?

The secret to superior control and spin is dwell time—the fraction of a second the pickleball stays in contact with your paddle's surface. A longer dwell time allows you to manipulate the ball more effectively, generating more spin and placing shots with pinpoint accuracy.

An Integrated System for Consistent Performance

While the cork dwell pads are placed in specific locations within the paddle's core, their effect is not isolated to those points of contact. Instead, the paddle is engineered as an integrated system. The Terracore EPP foam and the cork dwell pads work together to create a unified and consistent response across the entire face of the paddle.

Think of it like a speaker diaphragm. The speaker's voice coil, which creates the sound, is located in the center. However, the energy from that voice coil is distributed throughout the entire cone, causing it to vibrate uniformly and produce a consistent sound.

In the same way, the enhanced dwell time and vibration dampening of the cork pads are transmitted through the entire core and out to the paddle face. This ensures that regardless of where the ball strikes, you will experience the same forgiving feel and controlled response.

More Spin, More Control, More Dwell

Dwell pads are a game-changer for players who demand precision. When you're on offense, the enhanced grip ensures your shots stay laser-guided, giving you the confidence to hit with pace and still keep the ball in play. For resets and drop shots, the increased dwell time lets you slow down the ball and put it exactly where you want it. This technology truly elevates your soft game without sacrificing power.

The Quiet Revolution: How Cork Dwell Pads Reduce Vibration and Noise

While the dwell pads are revolutionary for performance, the material we chose is just as important. The Falcon is the first paddle to combine an EPP Full Foam Core with natural cork dwell pads.

Why cork? Cork is nature’s perfect shock absorber because of its cellular, spring-like structure. When the ball impacts cork, millions of tiny air-filled cells compress and deform, soaking up the shock gradually and then rebounding in a more controlled release. It dramatically reduces vibration and sound, creating a buttery-smooth connection with the ball. This makes the Falcon quieter while still delivering elite responsiveness.

By contrast, polypropylene honeycomb acts more like a rigid trampoline—it transfers energy back quickly, with less dwell time and a sharper rebound.

EPP foam sits in between: it cushions more than honeycomb but still returns energy in a more uniform, less dampened way than cork.  The combination of EPP foam and natural cork means you can handle bangers more effectively, as the paddle "absorbs and resets" their pace, giving you a quiet confidence on defense.

The Falcon: The First Paddle to Master Dwell Technology

Every detail of the Falcon has been meticulously engineered for this new technology. With 3 Layers of T700 Raw Toray Carbon, an elongated shape, and a meticulously crafted balance, the Falcon delivers a fast, forgiving, and powerful experience.

Why 13mm Thickness Matters

Thickness defines paddle behavior. Here’s the Falcon’s advantage:

  • 11 mm: Power. Thin, fast, but harsh
  • 16 mm: Control. Soft, forgiving, but slower
  • 13 mm: (Falcon): Hybrid. Balanced power + added control

The Falcon’s 13mm build delivers speed with softness — the perfect formula for performance.
