How to Deal with Achilles Tendonitis

achilles tendonitis

achillesAchilles tendonitis is an injury of the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscle to the heel bone.  Tendinitis is inflammation of a tendon. Inflammation is the body's natural response to injury or disease, and often causes swelling, pain, or irritation. Your Achilles tendon can become very thick and very painful.

If you have a problem with your Achilles Tendon, simply follow my “3 R’s (Relax, Rebalance and Reactivate)

1.) Relax the tissue along the back of your leg

2.) Rebalance the flex of gastrocnemius (calf) with stretching

3.) Reactivate the the joint below your ankle, which is called the (Sub Taylor joint).  When the Sub Taylor joint gets stiff, it puts extra stress on the Achilles Tendon.  Watch the video below to see you can mobilize the Sub Taylor joint.

In additon, check out our Ankle Helix, which is designed to help reduce pain for those suffering from Achilles tendonitis.
