What The Numbers Mean...

1

Swing Weight

MOST IMPORTANT!

Swing weight measures a pickleball paddle's resistance to swinging, influenced by its weight distribution - basically how heavy the paddle feels when you swing it. Higher swing weight offers more power. Lower swing weight enhances control and maneuverability.

2

Twist Weight

RELATES TO SWEET SPOT

Twist weight measures a paddle's resistance to twisting on off-center hits. Higher twist weight enhances stability and gives the feel of a larger sweet spot. Lower twist weight improves maneuverability and control when the ball is hit on the sweet spot, but makes the sweet spot feel smaller.

3

Balance Point

HEAD HEAVY VS HEAD LIGHT

Balance point is the spot on a paddle where it balances evenly. It is measured in cm from the butt of the paddle. Head-heavy paddles (larger number) favor power. Head-light paddles (lower number) enhance control.

4

Static Weight

LEAST IMPORTANT

Total weight of a paddle when stationary. Heavier paddles (over 8.4 oz) offer power. Lighter paddles (under 7.8 oz) provide speed and control. Even though this is the most widely looked at number, it is least important number to consider.
